NOVEMBER VILLAGE EVENTS - INCLUDING BONFIRE NIGHT


Tuesday 5th November: GUY FAWKES NIGHT! Parade of Guys, Fireworks, Bonfire. From 6.30pm Five Bells



Sunday 10th November: REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY: Ceremony and Service.  

10.45 am War Memorial, followed by short service in Church.



Saturday 16th November: VILLAGE BARN DANCE following on the huge success of last year.  Callers and musicians from the Wyld Band.  Bring and Share Finger Food Buffet Supper.  Great fun for dancers and non-dancers alike. £5 on the door; proceeds to The Friends of St Candida. Details from Briony (01297 489546).   7 for 7.30 pm Village Hall

Free exchange cafe - August

The popular Free Exchange Café is open on Sunday, the 4th of August from 10.30 to 12 noon, in the Church at Whitchurch Canonicorum.


Enjoy freshly-brewed coffee, tea, croissants and pastries straight from the oven. Catch up with friends and neighbours, or browse the Sunday papers. Come for ten minutes or stay for an hour. 


Ros will be hosting the Children's Corner 


The Free Exchange Table is open, too. Bring something you no longer need, take something away if you like it or both or neither - whichever you choose, no money changes hands. Plants and Produce are always welcome. 


There's no charge for the Cafe (but feel free to leave a donation).

Wednesday 1st May:
MAY DAY - Dawn of Summer Celebration with the Wyld Morris.
5.30 am Stonebarrow (NT Car Park), 6.30 am (ish) Five Bells, followed by Breakfast.

Sunday 5th May: Fresh croissants, coffee and friendly conversation, as well as the
exchange table. Children’s activities and story-time with Ros at 11 am.

Tuesday 14th May DHCT CHURCH CRAWL - Dorset Historic Churches Trust’s
celebrated Church Crawls offer you the opportunity to learn more about our wonderful
architectural heritage. Two experts in the fields of church history and architecture and
of painted and stained glass lead a group of up to 30 Friends and their guests around
a small selection of rural or urban churches sharing their enthusiasm and knowledge.
We meet at 10.30 and usually visit two churches before sharing a pub lunch. Several
more churches are interpreted in the afternoon before a cup of tea to round off the

Saturday 18th, Sunday 19th and Monday 20th May: OPEN GARDENS IN RYALL: Two of
our outstanding local gardens with views across the Marshwood Vale will be open as part of
the National Garden Scheme at Well Cottage and Pilsdon View. Entry £6 (covers both
gardens). Refreshments available. 1pm – 6pm

Sunday 19th May: SHORT & SWEET FAMILY SERVICE: A jolly, half hour get-together for
children, their parents and anyone who just enjoys it! 11am, Church

Sunday and Monday 26th and 27th May: OPEN GARDEN IN MORCOMBELAKE:
The spectacular hillside garden at Harcombe House (on Pitmans Lane) with stunning views
to Charmouth and Lyme Regis. A riot of Spring colour. Home-made Teas and refreshments
available. Admission £5 (children free) 11 am - 5 pm

Wednesday 12th December: WYLD MORRIS BAND with their annual evening of Christmas songs and carols. Come and join in!

Friday 14th December: LLYWELYN'S CHRISTMAS QUIZ: Full of festive spirit and great fun. 7.30 for 8 pm Five Bells

Saturday 15th December: DECORATE THE CHURCH for Christmas. Seasonal fun for all ages, with refreshments and Stollen. 10.30 am Church



Sunday 16th December: SHORT & SWEET CHILDREN’S SERVICE - all about angels.   Ros and Sue Langdon will be leading the service together with Clare Colby, helping us all to produce a multitude of angels! 11 am Church

Monday 17th December: WHITCHURCH FILM SOCIETY“Biancanieves”. 6.45 pm Village Hall 

Tuesday 18th December: WOW! CHRISTMAS PARTY: All Whitchurch women and local ladies are invited and welcome! This chat group started last spring and already has over twenty members. 2.15 - 3.30 pm Village Hall


Thursday 20th December: THE KNIFEMAN COMETH to the Five Bells Car Park. Bring all your dull blades to be sharpened! 9.45 am Five Bells

Thursday 20th December: CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT The traditional Christmas service of Lessons and Carols for Choir and Congregation, with the Whitchurch Occasional Choir, directed by John Bain. Mince pies to follow! A HIGHLIGHT OF THE VILLAGE YEAR. 7pm Church

Harvest



Saturday October 13th at 10.30am

Please join us to decorate the Church ready for the Harvest service.

Come and join in the Harvest Thanksgiving Songs of Praise in Whitchurch Canonicorum Church.
