Village & Church coming events

Sunday 23rd June: CHORAL EVENSONG with the Whitchurch Occasional Choir, directed by Nicholas Brown. 6 pm in the church

Saturday 29th June: SUMMER FLING BARN DANCE - music by the Wyld Band with caller Ruth Jenkins. Bar & Raffle. Tickets £8 includes Ploughmans & pudding. All diets catered for, just let us know. 
Doors open 7pm, dancing from 7.30 in the Village Hall. Pre-booking preferred - contact Nesta on 01297 489976 or nesta@leafwork.co.uk

Sunday 7th July: THIRD ALICE DILKE MEMORIAL CONCERT: The very welcome return of ANNA CASHELL and SIMON WATTERTON to play Brahms Violin Sonata in G and Beethoven's Piano Sonata in E major and more. Tickets £10 on the door, to include Tea and Cake. 3 pm in the church

Saturday 6th July: Please note that the Friends' Garden Party has been cancelled - see Sunday 14th July below

Saturday 13th July: WHITCHURCH’S  GOT  TALENT - an exciting programme of entertainment by our local talent, promising to be a great evening.If anyone still wants to take part, it is not too late.  The closing date for entries is the end of June. There will be an opportunity to visit the hall and rehearse if necessary during the first two weeks of July or by arrangement.  If you would like further information, please contact Carolyn Peck on 01297 489185 or email carolyn56peck@gmail.comTickets on the door £5.00 adults / £2.50 children. Bar and Raffle. 7pm in the Village Hall

Sunday 14th July: FAREWELL TO THE BAINS - An opportunity to say a personal goodbye to John and Cynthia at Afternoon Tea in the Village Hall. Open to all, but please bring a plate to share, and let Ros (01297 489055) know if you are coming, and what you are bringing! 3pm to 4.30 pm in the Village Hall

Sunday 21st July: WHITCHURCH OPEN GARDENS: Our village gardeners throw open their gates in a burst of colour and design! Parking at the Village Hall . Refreshments available in the Church. More details later. Tickets £6, children free. 12 noon to 5 pm.

Christmas At The Church

Dear Friends

We hope you will join us to celebrate Christmas in the Church:

Thursday 21st December: CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT - The traditional service of Lessons and Carols for Choir and Congregation, with the Whitchurch Occasional Choir, directed by John Bain. Mince pies and mulled wine to follow. 7 PM

Children are especially welcome to lead the singing of Away in a Manger, so please encourage them to come!

NB:There is limited parking at the church (best to get there early) but additional space is available at Berehayes Holiday Cottages, The Five Bells and the Village Hall. Wherever you park, please ensure you do not block access or other cars and, if in the lane, please make sure there is room for tractors, the milk tanker and emergency vehicles to pass.

Sunday 24th December: CANDLELIT MIDNIGHT MASS for Christmas Eve. 11 pm

Monday 25th December: EUCHARIST FOR CHRISTMAS DAY at Stanton St Gabriel. 9.30 am

Wedding flowers in the church

Archway, pedestals and on the font - some of these arrangements where then taken to the reception venue whilst others stayed in the church for all to see.

Enjoy freshly-brewed coffee, tea, croissants and pastries straight from the oven. Catch up with friends and neighbours, or browse the Sunday papers. Come for ten minutes or stay for an hour. 

Ros will be hosting the Children's Corner

The Free Exchange Table is open, too. Bring something you no longer need, take something away if you like it or both or neither - whichever you choose, no money changes hands. Plants and Produce are always welcome. 

There's no charge for the Cafe (but feel free to leave a donation).

Huge Thank you to all who came to the open day.....



Thank you to everyone that came and supported the Welcome to Whitchurch church/garden open day.

Over 170 people enjoyed wondering around the 7 gardens followed by visiting the church to see the history boards and sample some lovely refreshments.

Followed by over 60 people enjoying the choral evensong later in the evening.
