Can you spare some time to help?

If you can spare some time every now and again, please let us know if you would be up for:

1) Assisting with parking, on the odd occasion when we have a concert, funeral or wedding and expect more than usual visitors. Help to keep the lane free for passing traffic and emergency vehicles. No more than an hour or so at most. Please talk to Ros on 489055

2) Help to move the piano in the church for concerts and other events. This is not hard work and takes only a few minutes - but it needs more than one person! Please talk to John Bain on 489629 if you might be able to help occasionally.

Join in with the Ride and Stride on Sept 8th

We are once again joining in the annual Ride & Stride campaign to raise funds for the Dorset Historic Churches Trust. Half the money we raise will go to the Trust and the other half to the fabric fund of our church in Whitchurch Canonicorum.  Last year we raised almost £1000 and, with your help, we aim to do even better this year.

This is what's happening on SATURDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER:

Betsy is organising the Ride (cycles) on a route that will take in several Dorset churches. It's quite a challenging ride, taking about 6 hours, including a stop for a picnic lunch. To join the Bike Ride, contact Betsy on betsywest@ryallfarm.com or 01297 489795.

Sam Milburn is organising the Stride (walk) with a less ambitious plan to visit Whitchurch, two Chideock churches, St Gabriel's (ruins), Charmouth and Catherston churches on foot. It's about an 8/10 mile walk, with wonderful views, and we will picnic en route. To join the Walk contact Michael on michaelwest@ryallfarm.com or 01297 489795.

Paul White is organising the Tractor Ride visiting many of the Golden Cap churches. To bring your tractor and join the Tractor Ride, contact Paul White on pgwconstruction@gmail.com or 07979 475120.

There is no organised Horse Ride this year but if anyone would like to arrange it please let me know.

All groups will finish at Whitchurch for a sumptuous Afternoon Tea and Cake, kindly provided by Whitchurch PCC and the Cake Squad.

If you are unable to participate but would like to support us, you could sponsor us as a team - and we hope you will - either with a promise (simply reply to this email with your pledge) or donate online. Or visit us at our Stand at the Whitchurch Flower Show on Bank Holiday Monday.

Giving online is easy and convenient: Simply click the following link for the Dorset Historic Churches Trust Just Giving page and press Donate:

Important: Please put your name and the name of the church 'Whitchurch Canonicorum' in the 'Leave a Message' box on the form so that the funds will be attributed correctly. All donations can be gift-aided.

The Dorset Historic Churches Trust does a wonderful job in helping to preserve our lovely Dorset churches and has been very generous with large grants to our own church here in Whitchurch.

Please join us or sponsor us!
