Ride and Stride September 9th

Dear Friends

We are once again joining in the annual Ride & Stride campaign to raise funds for the Dorset Historic Churches Trust. Half the money we raise will go to the Trust and the other half to the fabric fund of our church in Whitchurch Canonicorum.  Last year we raised £1093 and came thirteenth out of 400 Dorset churches; with your help, we aim to do even better in 2017.

Judith Newman and Betsy are organising the Ride (cycles) on a route that will take in as many as possible of the churches of the Golden Cap Team. It's quite a challenging ride, taking about 6 hours, including a stop for a picnic lunch.

Don Newman and I are organising the Stride (walk) with a less ambitious plan to visit Whitchurch, Catherston, Wootton and Fishpond churches on foot. It's about a seven mile walk, with wonderful views, and we will picnic en route.

Both groups will finish at Whitchurch for a sumptuous Afternoon Tea and Cake, kindly provided by Hilary and the Whitchurch PCC.

Here's how you can help:

1. You could join our walking group by enlisting with me (michaelwest@ryallfarm.com) or phone (01297 489795). Dogs welcome, but there are a few stiles where larger dogs will need a lift.

OR

2. You could join the biking team by enlisting with Betsy (betsywest@ryallfarm.com) or phone (01297 489795).

In any event, you could sponsor us as a team - and we hope you will as it's a very good cause - either with a promise (simply reply to this email with your pledge) or donate online. Or visit us at our Stand at the Whitchurch Flower Show on Bank Holiday Monday.

3. Giving online is easy and convenient: Simply click the following link for the Dorset Historic Churches Trust Just Giving page and press Donate:

Important: Please put your name and the name of the church 'Whitchurch Canonicorum' in the 'Leave a Message' box on the form so that the funds will be attributed correctly. All donations can be gift-aided.

The Dorset Historic Churches Trust does a wonderful job in helping to preserve our lovely Dorset churches and has been very generous with large grants to our own church.

Please join us or sponsor us!

Very best wishes

Michael
